Sanjivani Biography

Sanjivani is an Indian playback singer who has sung beautiful songs for Neha in the movie – Kareeb. She has also co-hosted Sachin in Doordarshan music show ‘Picnic Antakshari’ during 1999-2000. In 1995, she became the winner of ZEE TV talent hunt show and became the first playback singer from India to get a break in movies through music hunt show. Persons followed her through the same talent show were Kunal Ganjawala and Shreya Ghosal.

Born in a family of academics, she too holds a master degree in commerce as well as Sangeet Visharad degree. She got her first break to sing all songs for the movie ‘Kareeb’. Her cute voice well suited the debut heroine and her nature. All songs became huge hits too. Songs – Dil mera chura lo, Haa judai se dartha hai dil and Chori chori jab nazrein mili. She was nominated for Filmfare though she couldn’t win it. Next year she sang ‘Hey ambe balihari’ for Kohraam though the song went un-noticed. Her talent was noticed by versatile music director A.R.Rehman and he used her variety voice for the song, ‘Chidiya Too Hotee Toh’ of Nayak in the year 2000. She sung this duet along with Abhijeet.

After Kareeb, perhaps the best song of her Bollywood career is ‘Nikamma kiya is dil ne’. She sung this super hit song along with Shaan. This song was pictured on Tusshar Kapoor and Esha Deol. Though the movie was a flop, this song was a hit. Yet she struggled to get songs from Bollywood. After that she has sung only for a few movies – Akhiyon se gori mare, Road, Socha na tha, Fun2shh, Pyar ka superhit formula and Hum phir milein na milein. Yet only the song ‘Oo yaara rab’ of Socha na tha pictured on Ayesha Thakia was only noticed. Bollywood has already forgotten this talented singer, despite having a fresh and melodious voice.

Now she has her own live band with the name, Sanjh Sanjivani and has performed more than 1000 live shows till now. She is specialized in Hindustani classical music and conducts concerts too. She has also translated Meera’s poems to English and sung in her voice. Her last release is ‘Meera and Me’.
