Sanjib Sarkar Biography

Sanjib Sarkar is a music composer, song writer and sound designer from Bengal. Keyboard and Harmonium are the musical instruments with which he associates himself. Soon after graduation he started his professional career by creating jingles before he got associated with films and independent music as a composer. Sarkar got his first break as a film score composer with Sudhamoy Babur Advut Galpo directed by Anindya Chatterjee. Since then he has composed music for around a dozen of films, apart from several TV shows and singles.

 

Sanjib Sarkar was born on 16 November 1986 in Bankura, West Bengal. He was born to Debi Prasad Sarkar and Ratna Sarkar. His childhood days and teens were spent in his native place where he studied, and at the age of 18 he moved to Kolkata after completing his matriculation. He completed his graduation from Bangabasi Morning College, Kolkata. As he was serious about a career in music, he started formal training in Hindustani music Provash Dey. He also studied Sound Design from Sri. Pankaj Seal (SRFTI).

 

He started off as a music composer for jingles. Asian Paints, MTS Mobile, Emami etc are some of the brands for which he created jingles. In 2011 he got his first break to Bengali cinema as a music composer through the movie, Sudhamoy Babur Advut Galpo. Joker, Masoom, Na Jene Mon, Chhip Suto Char, Langto - The Film, Baghini, Lust, Umformung: The Transformation, Paradiso etc are the movies for his composed music. He worked with both senior playback singers like Kavita Krishnamurty, Sadhana Sargam, and newcomers like Akriti Kakkar and several less-known artists. Disha, Mukti Snan, Hiyar Majhe, Arundhutir Chiti and Ektu Sukher Khonje are the TV shows for which he composed music.
