Sanjay Bangar Biography

Sanjay Bangar is a former Indian cricketer who currently serves as batting coach of Indian cricket team since August 2014. He has been an all-rounder to India’s national team and has played both test and ODI forms of cricket. He belonged to the long list of those unsuccessful cricketers, who through their hard work earned a position in the National team, but couldn’t sustain. Played his first international match in 2001, he played his last match in 2004. In between he played 12 tests and 15 ODIs for team India scoring a total of 470 and 180 runs respectively. His highest score is 100 not out in a test match. He scored 8,349 runs and 300 runs in his first class career and it includes a double century.

 

He was born in Beed, Maharashtra in the year 1972. He started off playing domestic cricket in the early 1990s as a team member of Maharashtra and Mumbai. He also played with Railways in the state level. In 2000-2001 season his team reached finals of Ranji cricket and very soon he made it to Indian team. He played his first test match on 3 December, 2001 and first ODI on 25 January, 2002 both against England. He played his last test match against New Zealand on 19 December, 2002 and against Zimbabwe on 24 January, 2004.

 

He played IPL matches as a team member of Deccan Chargers in 2008 and Kolkata Knight Riders the following year. Later he took up the career of a cricket coach. He had coached India A, Kings XI Punjab and Kochi Tuskers and currently serves as the batting coach of team India since August 2014. When he served as the coach of Kings XI Punjab, the team managed to reach the finals in 2014, though lost to Kolkata Knight Riders.
