Sangeetha Rajeev Biography

Sangeetha Rajeev is an Indian singer and performer from Bangalore, south India. She renders her voice for film songs, apart from owning an independent career in music. She has done more than a thousand live performances across the world so far. All her singles have been featured on BBC Asian Network. Zindagi and Tu Hi in 2018 and its Kannada version Nan E Life and Kare are the recent works, and both songs became instant chartbusters. In fact Tu Hi received a nomination for the 'Best Pop Song' of the year and Zindagi for the 'Best Indian Song' of the year in the prestigious VIMA Music Awards, 2019. She is known by the stage name, SaRa.

 

Sangeetha Rajeev was born in the Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore. Her family has links to the musical world and Sanjeetha too pursued a career in the same. Her father S Rajeev is a banker, and as a part of his job the family shifted to Mumbai when she was 6 years old. She was brought up in Mumbai, where she completed studies and also took training in Bharatnatyam, Hindustani music and Carnatic classical music. She received training in Carnatic music from her mother, M. K. Sharadamba. For her engineering studies she moved back to Bangalore.

 

After studies she worked in IT sector at Bangalore for a while, then worked in England for a brief period and then returned back to pursue a career in music. She has been deeply influenced by her mother, who is a Carnatic singer. Among western singers, Michael Jackson remains her major influence. A rockstar on stage, she is regular with live shows apart from releasing singles and albums. She has also rendered her voice for a few Kannada films.
