Sandip Das Biography 
Sandip Das is a business executive who currently serves as a member of the advisory board of Sterlite Technologies. He has been earlier associated with many leading companies of India in the corporate sector, holding many administrative positions. Deputy Managing Director of Hutchison Essar (now Vodafone India), Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Maxis Communications, and head of Reliance Jio are the positions he held earlier. He is one of Asia’s most respected telecommunications professional.
He is a senior advisor with UK-based telecom consultants, Analysys Mason. He is also on the Advisory Board of management firm Astrum. He is an angel investor. Sandip holds a BE degree from NIT, Rourkela and a Master’s in Business Administration from FMS, University of Delhi. He has also done Advanced Management Programme (AMP 188) from Harvard Business School, Boston prior to joining corporate sector.
Sandip Das was born in 1958 in Cuttack, Odisha state. His father was an aeronautical engineer. He along with his two brothers was given good education by his father. After studies, he started his professional career with Shriram Group, where he started as a Management Trainee. He worked with the same organization for long 10 years and departed as Joint Divisional Manager. Then he worked in automobile industry with some of the leading companies like Toyota before moving back to India.
Das joined Hutchison Essar, then known as Hutchison Max Telecom on its inhibition in 1994. He spent 13 years in the company. When he left the company, it had 25 million subscribers. Das was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Maxis Communications Berhad, Malaysia in 2007. In May 2013, he quit Maxis to head Reliance Jio Infocomm. In 2015 he quit Reliance to join telecom and media consulting firm Analysys Maso, and in 2016 he joined the advisory board of Sterlite Technologies.
