Sandhya Biography

Sandhya is an Indian film actress who acted in films of Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada film industry. Her debut film was Kaadhal in Tamil in 2004. Her performance in the film earned her Filmfare Award and Tamil Nadu State Film Award. She got Tamil Nadu State Film Special Award for Best Actress in 2006 for her role in Tamil film Dishyum. Her debut film in Telugu is Annavaram and this earned her Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.

 

Her original name is Revathi. She was born on 27th September 1989 in Alwaye, Kerala. Her father is Ajith Kumar working as a cashier at a national bank and her mother is Maya Ajith Kumar, a beautician. She has one elder brother Rahul. She finished her schooling at Vidhyodaya School and wanted to study visual communications. But she could not continue her studies and had to discontinue in the middle. She could speak English, Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil languages.

 

She starred in the movie Kaadhal. Her fame rose after her blockbuster film Dishyum. Her first Malayalam film is Alice in Wonderland in which she acted as the sister of Jayaram. She also took part in the stage show of Mani Ratnam, Netru Indru Naalai. She did a small role in the Tamil film Vallavan. Other films she appeared are Prajapathi, Koodal Nagar, Kannamoochi Yenada, Cycle, Thoondil, Irrumbukkottai Murattu Singam, Haasini, College Days, Traffic, Three Kings, etc.

 

She was taken to the film industry by Director Balaji Sakthivel in his film Kaadhal. This film is a story about a school girl falling in love with a motor mechanic. Her performance in this movie was outstanding. She acted with Jeeva in the film Dishyum which was a cute love story. She also acted in the film Mahesh Saranya Matrum Palar and Manjal Veyyil by M. Raja.
