Sandesh Jhingan Biography

Sandesh Jhingan is an Indian professional footballer of India national team, and also plays for Indian Super League - professional football league in India. He plays as a defender for the Kerala Blasters in ISL. One of the most valuable players of Kerala blasters, he is associated with the team since its maiden tournament at ISL in 2014, and is currently playing his 5th season. He has played 59 matches for Kerala, and one of the most sought footballers too, with a lot of fans. He is associated with national team since 2015 playing 26 matches as a striker and has scored 4 goals. He has played 6 matches for India U23 in 2014.

 

Sandesh Jhingan hails from Chandigarh. He was born in 1993. He received his football training at the St. Stephen's Academy, which was operated by the current Minerva Punjab FC head coach Surinder Singh, and has also played a few matches for this team with shining wins. He was then known to be a shy, yet expressive on the field, defender. The tall lad gave early glimpses of his huge potential at the academy, playing a major role to place his team at South-East Asian finals of the Manchester United Premier Cup.

 

Later he represented his city team Chandigarh at the U-19 level. He was also instrumental in their winning the BC Roy Trophy, a tournament held between state teams at the U-19 level. Very soon Jhingan became the talk of the town, and by the age of 18 he was seen by many, as a replacement to many senior Indian players.

 

In 2011, he was selected for United Sikkim’s side aiming to break into the top tier of Indian football. He made a dream debut in the I-League against Salgaocar, and gave 3-2 victory for United Sikkim. Jhingan then had a stint with Mumbai FC on loan, and then made his debut in Indian Super League, one of the top leagues of Indian football, signing for Kerala blasters in 2014. He has been playing for the team since then, which has already played two finals.
