Sandeep Bakhshi Biography 
Sandeep Bakhshi is an Indian executive who has been appointed as the new MD and CEO of India’s one of the biggest banks – ICICI Limited in 2018. He has been serving as ICICI Prudential Life Insurance before stepping into the new shoes. Chief executive officer (CEO) Chanda Kochhar has stepped down from the position following a few allegations, and Sandeep Bakhshi replaces her in this position. Thus he assumed charge in June, 2018 as the chief operating officer (COO) of India’s largest private sector bank by consolidated assets for the next 5 years. Bakhshi is 57 years old now and is the senior-most official at ICICI Bank after Kochhar.
Bakhshi holds a mechanical engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. He also completed a postgraduate degree in management from XLRI - Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur. After completing his management studies, he joined ICICI in 1986, and has been associated with the organization since then. He was the managing director and CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance since August 2010, before joining as COO of ICICI Bank in 2018. The choice for the new leader zeroed at Bakhshi because he is seen as a leader who doesn’t believe in factionalism and can take the team along.
He has been credited for taking the first Indian insurance company public. He had recently been re-appointed as ICICI Prudential CEO for two years. He headed the group’s non-life insurance company ICICI Lombard General Insurance Co. Ltd for two years (2007-2009), followed by the positions - deputy managing director and head of retail in the bank, and then shifted to the life insurance company in August 2010. He owns a huge experience in the field of risk management, project financing as well as corporate banking.
