Sanam Puri Biography

Sanam Puri is a playback singer associated with Bollywood. He is also the lead vocalist of the band, Sanam. His brother Samar Puri, Venkat Subramaniyam and Keshav Dhanraj are the other members of the band and they released their first album SQS Supastars in 2011, followed by 'Samar Sanam' in 2012. "Ishq Bulaava" of Hasee Toh Phasee, title track of Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and Humshakals – Mash Up of Humshakals are his noted Bollywood works. He was associated with A. R. Rahman for the album - Micromax Unite Anthem. He never took formal learning in music. Most recently he has recorded one song for a Bangladesh film - "Jajabor".

 

Sanam Puri was born on 1 June 1992 in New Delhi. He completed his school studies from St. Columba's School and later joined Kirori Mal College, Delhi. However he quit studies a few days after admission, following ragging by seniors. He was exposed to musical instruments like guitar and piano during his teens and he never took formal learning in music. But he was exposed to music since the age of 6, while at Muscat. Later he moved to Delhi, India when he got serious with a music career. After staying in Delhi for seven years, he shifted to Mumbai.

 

In 2011, he formed a band in association with his brother and two friends. It was named Sanam, and has already released two albums. His first break to Bollywood films was for the movie, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, where he sang the song - "Dhat Teri Ki" alongside Aditi Singh Sharma. The composers were impressed by the song, Teri Aankhon Se, he sung for his band. "Dhat Teri Ki" was an instant hit. Later he sung for Vishal–Shekhar. The song was "Ishq Bulaava" from Hasee Toh Phasee.
