Sameera Saneesh Biography

Sameera Saneesh is a successful fashion designer associated with Malayalam cinema. Compleetd the course from the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Design, she started her career as a freelancer during her academic years and later became one of the leading costume designers of Malayalam cinema. Aagathan, Oru vadakkan selfie, Eyobinte Pustakam, Arjunan Saakshi, Premam, Pathemaari, Pranchiyettan and The Saint, In Ghost House Inn, Katha Thudarunnu, Daddy Cool, 100 Days of Love, Payyans, Best Actor, Malarvaadi Arts Club, Salt N' Pepper, Chappa Kurishu, Pranayam, How Old Are You etc are some of her film works. She also designed costumes for top commercial brands like Bhima, Dhatri, Kalyan Silks, Nirapara etc.

 

She frequently worked in Mammootty movies and has designed dapper suits and T-shirts for him. In fact Mammootty’s costume for ‘Daddy Cool’ gave her the first major success in the field. Mythili’s and Shweta Menon’s flowing gowns and simple kurtis for Salt N' Pepper became a fashion trend in college campuses. Her name was entered to the Limca Book of Records for designing costumes for most number of films in a short span of time. Before she reached 30, in a span of 5 years she completed 52 films, and she is the first woman to reach this achievement.

 

Sameera was born on June 27, 1983. She was born in a village named Eroor of Ernakulam district. Ibhrahim and Jameela are her parents. She has three sisters. She is married to Saneesh. Since childhood she was attracted to the world of colours and her parents encouraged her tastes. Her interest to painting was first recognized by her mother. She encouraged Sameera by presenting her colour pencils, and taking her to colour competitions. Sameera learned drawing and painting at Kalabhavan Kochi from Class 7 to Class 12. She completed graduation from Trikkaakara College before joining National Institute of Fashion Design at Kochi. She got first rank for this course. Though she dreamt to become a graphic designer, she became a costume designer. That’s the only difference.
