Sameer Phaterpekar Biography

Sameer Phaterpekar is a Hindi music composer and musician of present times, associated with Bollywood and Marathi cinema. He got associated with Bollywood in year 1983, and started his independent journey in 2002, and is best known for his background scores since then. As of now he has given background score to around 50 films, in a career spanning to nearly two decades. Salman khan starrer Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar (2002) was his debut flick as a BGM scorer. He also scores music for TV series nowadays, and Out of Love in 2019 is his most recent work. He has also given background music –for 23 episodes of CID, 10 episodes of Criminal Justice and 63 episodes of Adaalat.

 

Sameer Phaterpekar hails from Mumbai. His musical journey started in year 1982, where he worked as an assistant to legendary musicians like R.D.Burman, Kalyanji-Anandji, Rajesh Roshan etc. He also worked as a guitarist for many music recordings since then. His career as a background scorer started only in 2002, two decades after his association with Bollywood cinema. He released two albums - ‘Khoobsurat’ by Venus music company and ‘Dil le gaya Ajnabi’ with Alka Yagnik, before he started his career as a background scorer.

 

Some of his film works as a BGM scorer include – Drishyam, Force, Madaari, Dhuan, Mumbai Meri Jaan etc. Sameer Phatarpekar came to limelight in Marathi film industry, with his background music for ‘Ringa Ringa’, ’Lai Bhari’ and  ‘Kaay Raav Tumhi’. He is also a recipient of Dadasaheb Phalke Film Awards trust. Apart from Hindi he did background score for Marathi, Punjabi and Tamil Films also, with a total count of 55+.
