Samaresh Routray Biography

Samaresh Routray is a TV personality from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, known as an actor and producer. He has also acted in a few films, mostly portraying character and negative roles. He made his film debut with the Bollywood film, 23rd March 1931: Shaheed in 2002 starring Bobby Deol. He played the supporting role of Yaspal in the non-fiction film directed by Guddu Dhanoa. Later he became quite active with television world. He owns a production company – Odiaone, which is involved with the film production of Oriya movies. "Mo Suna Pua (2006)" marked his acting debut in Oriya film industry. Now he is fully engaged with Oriya entertainment world.

Samaresh Routray was born on 3 July 1980 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Sipura village in Kendrapada is his native village. Alekha Prasad Routray & Laxmipriya Routray are his parents. He completed MBA in HR and Marketing and also joined the prestigious National School of Drama, New Delhi. He made his acting debut with 2002 biopic of Bhagat Singh - 23rd March 1931: Shaheed. After that he took a long break of four years before his acting debut in Oriya films.  

Samaresh gained popularity through the negative roles he portrayed on Oriya screen. In 2007 he played his first lead role in Dhauli Express. The movie received Odisha State Film Award for Best Film in 2007. The film also starred Mihir Das, Siddhanta Mahapatra,Anu Choudhury and Aparajita Mohanty in pivot roles. But later he concentrated on to character roles. He received 2 Tarang cine awards for the negative roles he played onscreen. He played the role of Sidharth Patnaik in 2009 release – Mukhyamantri. But after that he gained momentum as a villain through the roles - Loafer (2011), Most Wanted (2011), Luchakali (2012) etc.
