Salim Khan Biography

Salim Khan is a successful script writer who has given blockbusters like Seeta aur Geetha and Yaadom ki baarat. He has also played a significant role in making Amitabh Bachchan ‘Angry young man’ and ‘Second super star of Bollywood’. He along with Javed Aktar, has written the scripts of the most successful movies of Big B’s career including Sholay, Zanjeer, Don, Shakthi, Majboor, Trishul, Dosthana, Shaan and Deewar, the land mark movies of Amitabh Bachchan’s career. Their association was known in the name ‘Salim Javed’ and this association is often regarded as the best script writers of Bollywood as well as the first successful script writers to attain the star status. They can also be called as the emperors of action movies! His wife Helen is the most wanted cabaret dancer of yesterdays. His three sons are successful actors at present too – Salman Khan, Arbaz Khan and Sohail Khan.

Salim Khan entered film industry as an actor during 60’s. He has done bit roles in about 25 movies for a period of 7 years. He has done small roles in movies like Shammi Kapoor-Asha Parekh starrer Teesri Manzil and Deewana. He used to assist writer/director Abrar Alvi in writing stories and later became an independent writer. He made a hit pair with Javed Akhtar with whom he has delivered maximum hits. They have done many significant movies that became land mark movies in the history of Bollywood. Apart from Sholay, Shakthi, Don, Zanjeer, Trishul and Deewar, they together have written the script of Kranti, Zamana and Mr.India. Salman Khan has acted for the script written by his dad in the movie – Pathar ke phool. This movie can be included in the list of early films of Salman’s career.

Along with Javed Aktar, Salim Khan has also written the script of a few South Indian movies. Manushulu Chesina Dongalu of 1977 (Telugu), Premada Kanike (Kannada) and Yugandhar (Telugu remake of Don in 1977) can be included in the list. Now also this pair is working for the project titled Zanjeer. Other major Bollywood hits include Andaz, Haathi mere saathi, Chacha Bhatheeja, Adhikar, Akela, Dil tera deewana (1996), Jurm, Tufan, Naam, Haat ki safai and Pathar ke phool.
