Saiyami Kher Biography

Saiyami Kher is a model, south Indian film actress who is to debut Bollywood with ace director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s upcoming flick – Mirziya, a contemporary version of Mirza & Sahiba tragic love story. Saiyami to make her big break to Bollywood playing the female lead Mirza for the film and she is being casted opposite Harshvardhan Kapoor. The movie is scripted by Gulzar. Mehra has earlier given highly acclaimed movies like Rang De basanti, Delhi 6 and Bhag Milkha Bhag. She has earlier appeared in Telugu film Rey, where she played female lead opposite Sai Dharam Tej.

Saiyami Kher has a filmy heritage. She is born in 1992 to Adwait Kher and Uttara Mhatre Kher, a former Miss India who has represented India at Miss World 1982 pageant. Usha Kiran – the famous singing actress of yesterdays is Saiyami’s paternal grandmother. Tanvi Azmi and Shabana Azmi are her aunts. Thus great writer Javed Akhtar and famous cinematographer Baba Azmi of Mr. India fame are her uncles. Saiyami too started with modelling before reaching cinema. She made her film debut through 2015 Telugu musical – Rey, which was well received by critics and become a Cult Film, though was a box office failure. She was paired for lead role with Sai Dharam Tej and the movie was directed by Y. V. S. Chowdary.

After that she received her first Bollywood offer – Mirziya. She has been in the search of a Bollywood break, the past two years. After months of intensive search and rigorous churning, Mehra found his Sahibaan through Saiyami. It’s believed that the movie will give big break to Saiyami’s Bollywood career. Harshvardhan Kapoor too debuts Bollywood with this movie, which retells the folk story of Mirza & Sahiba. Shooting began this monsoon at Ladakh and scheduled to release in 2016. Saiyami Kher is better known as Tanvi Azmi’s niece and Usha Kiran’s granddaughter in the film circle. Yet director makes it very clear that Saiyami was not chosen for her illustrious acting lineage.
