Sai Karthik Biography

Sai Karthik is a music composer, playback singer and musician associated with south Indian cinema. He works in all south Indian languages except Malayalam. He entered the film industry as a drummer for live shows, and later turned music composer and singer and succeeded in this field. His debut films as music director was Aboo Adavallu in Telugu, and earned recognition through Pataas. He started scoring music for movies since 2008. He predominantly works in Telugu cinema and has handled a few Kannada and Tamil movies as well. He has composed songs for more than 50 films in the industry.

 

He was born in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh. His full name is Kothapalli Sai Karthik, and is also credited as Sai Kartheek. He hails from a family of musicians from Ongole and Sai too joined music stream very soon. His father Kothapalli Srinivas was a rhythm player and was quite active in live music shows. Both his mother Kothapalli Nagamani and his wife Divija Karthik are playback singers. His aunt Rebala Sri Lakshmi is a stage actress. Young Sai accompanied his father for stage shows at a very young age and started playing rhythm pads at a tender age of 9.

 

After his school studies he moved to Chennai in seek of opportunities in movies. He worked as a percussionist under many music composers for movies and live shows for many years and has worked under Vandematharam Srinivas, Koti, Mani Sharma, S. P Balu, Devi Sri Prasad, R. P. Patnaik etc. As a drummer and pad player, he appeared for more than 3000 live shows. Later he exclusively worked for Manisharma for many years before marking his debut in Telugu film industry. In films too, he started off as a drummer and composer for the movie, Aboo Adavallu in 2008 and has completed 1 decade in the industry.
