Sachin Pilgaonkar Biography

Sachin Pilgaonkar, most fondly known as Sachin is a versatile personality who is a good actor, director, anchor and singer and works for both Bollywood and Marathi film industry. He works for Bhojpuri movies too. In many terms, his name can be counted among versatile persons of Indian film industry. He started working in film industry at the age of 4 and has won two National awards for best child actor role.  Marathi, his name is counted among the prominent film makers who have delivered big hits during 80’s and after that. Some of his movies as director include Mai Baap, Amchyasarkhe Aamich, Navri Mile Navryala and Ashi hi banwa banwi. He has directed a few Hindi movies too. Some of them include Jaana Pehchana (sequel of blockbuster Akhilyon ki jarokon se along with its heroine Rajeetha after 20 years), Prem diwane and Aisa phi kya jaldi hai. He is a successful anchor and Picnic Antakshari shown on Doordarshan and the show became successful due to lively and energetic performance of Sachin that contained comic elements too. As leading hero, Akhiyon ki jarokom se, Nadiya ke paar and Baalika Badu are his successful movies. He has done supporting role in Amitabh Bachchan super hit movies like Trishul, Sholey and Satte pe sathe.

He started his career as a child artist for the Marathi movie ‘Ha maza marg ekla’. He has acted in numerous Bollywood movies during 1960’s like Brahmachari, Jewel thief, Mahli didi and Mela and his association with Junior Mehmood was really noticeable. They have done 15 movies together. As a hero, his first movie was ‘Geet gata chal’ along with Sarika. Later after a string of hit movies like Akhiyon ki jarokon se, he began to taste sourness of failures that resulted in his switching to character roles and later to direction field. Direction of Marathi movies gave him best achievements one after another.

He married his co-actress of Marathi films and serial, Supriya and together they carry a designated position in Marathi film as well as television industry. He has directed her in a few serials also. Among his tele serials, comic serials like Tu tu mein mein became most famous. He has participated and did judge roles in a few reality shows too.
