S. S. Ahluwalia Biography 
Surendrajeet Singh Ahluwalia, shortly called S. S. Ahluwalia is a prominent Indian politician associated with Bharatiya Janata party, and currently a parliamentarian too. He got elected to Lok Sabha in 2014 general elections representing BJP, and currently serves as a minister in the central government led by Narendra Modi. He serves the position of Minister of State, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. He represents Darjeeling constituency in Lok Sabha since 2014. He is a former Member of Parliament representing Bihar and Jharkhand in the Rajya Sabha. He has served the upper house during 1986-1992, 1992-1998, 2000–2006, and 2006-2012, before joining lower house in 2014. He was previously associated with Indian National Congress before joining Bharatiya Janata party.
Surendrajeet Singh Ahluwalia hails from Asansol, West Bengal. He was born on 4 July 1951. He is married to Monica Ahluwalia and the couple has three children. Ahluwalia is a lawyer by education. He became Member of Parliament from Rajya Sabha representing Bihar and Jharkhand, for 4 terms since 1986. Since then he is actively involved with politics. He was earlier associated with Indian National Congress.
During 1984 – 86, he was a member of G.S. Dhillon Committee constituted providing relief and rehabilitation to the victims of the November 1984 riots in the country, following Indira Gandhi’s assassination. During his tenure as Rajya Sabha member, he has been a member of several committees of Central government at different points of time. He has served as a member of Committee on Information Technology, Privileges, Agriculture, Home Affairs, Medical Council Bill, Finance, Business Advisory Committee, Ministry of Information Technology and many more. He has been a member of several Joint Parliamentary Committees as well.
