Rupankar Bagchi Biography

Rupankar Bagchi is a famous playback singer of Bengali cinema who owns many instant hits in the recent times. Shedin Dujoney and Jhal Legechey of Ganesh Talkies, Govire Jao of Baishe Srabon, Gaan Khuje Paai and Chupi Chupi Raat of  Chalo Let's Go and Amar Mawte of Hemlock society are his most popular songs. He is known for his intensity to explode on stage as a stage performer. He is one of the most popular singers of Bengal at present, who remains in limelight with a fan following crowd. As a stage performer he started at the age of 11.

 

Both his parents are musicians. He started learning music at a younger age. He was initiated to the musical world by his father Ritendra Nath Bagchi at a younger age. He learnt Rabindra Sangeet from his mother Sumitra Bagchi. He learnt Hindustani music from Sukumar Mitra and modern songs from Jatileswar Mukhopadhyay. When he performed live for the first time at the age of 11, his mother stood beside him. Now he is one of the popular voices of the music industry and apart from film music, he has also recorded songs for jingles, private albums as well as television serials. He is most active at nights with his live shows and move from one place to another. He has also anchored a few television shows.

 

He has received Best Playback Singer for ‘Andarmahal’ from Ananda Bazar Patrika. In 2006, he received Uttam Kumar Award. He has also received awards as a singer of television serials. ‘Sonar Harin’ of ETV Bangla is one such. ‘Best Album’ by Snowcem Ananda Durgotsav Arghya for ‘Bhokatta’ (2002) and Best Album’ by Bangio Sangeet Prachar Samiti for ‘Meghe Roddure’ (2003) are other major honours received by him.
