Rukmini Maitra Biography

Rukmini Maitra is a successful model and Bengali actress who appears in Bengali language films. She plays lead roles in Bengali cinema at present, and is currently one of the most sought and successful film actresses. Some of her major hits in the recent times are Cockpit, Chaamp, Kabir, Kidnap and Password. She frequently shares screen space with youth icon Dev, and they together have done 5 movies till 2019. She has also taken modelling assignments for leading brands like ITC Fiama, Reliance, Lakmé, Vodafone, Sunsilk, Rado, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Parachute, Titan, Tata Tea, Femina, Royal Stag etc.

Rukmini Maitra hails from Bengal. She started her professional career at a very young of 13 as a model. She has modelled for various regional, national and international brands and has also been featured in fashion magazines. She received her first break to silver screen through 2017 film, Chaamp where she shared screen space with Dev and Priyanka Sarkar. Since then till 2019 she had 5 Bengali releases, and interestingly she shared screen space with Dev in all these films. She is to do a movie with another actor for the first time in 2020. The movie is titled Switzerland, where she is being paired with Abir Chatterjee. The movie is slated to release this year.

In 2018 she won Filmfare awards for best debutant in Bengali for her movies – Chaamp and Cockpit. In 2017 a poll conducted by The Times of India, she was voted as ‘Calcutta Times Most Desirable Woman of 2017’ and she also found her name in the list of ‘The Times 50 Most Desirable Women 2017’. In 2018 she received the prestigious Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards for Most Promising Actress category.
