Ruchi Sanghvi Biography

Ruchi Sanghvi is an Indian computer engineer from Pune who became the first female engineer hired by Facebook. She was hired by Facebook in 2005, and she quit the company in 2010 to start her own company ‘Cove’ in 2011 with two other associates. The following year the company was bought by Dropbox and she was given the position VP of Operations. However she left the group in 2013 and started South Park Commons in 2016. Her husband Aditya Agarwal is also into IT field, who has worked with Facebook, Cove, and Dropbox, in association with his wife.

 

Ruchi Sanghvi was born in Pune, Maharashtra on 20 January 1982. She was born into a business family, and initially she wanted to join her family business after completing her studies. She completed her computer studies from Carnegie Mellon University in 2004, where she took graduation and post-graduation degrees. After studies she moved to Silicon Valley where she joined Oracle Corporation. She was dating Aditya Agarwal, her college mate of Carnegie Mellon University while she worked with Oracle, and they later got married.

 

In 2005 they together joined Facebook. It was for the first time the company hired a female employee, making it to history. In 2011, she marked a new beginning as an entrepreneur along with her husband, and succeeded in IT field. Currently she owns South Park Commons, which is a residential and professional tech space established in 2016. Currently she is also an investor and adviser in a number of Silicon Valley companies. She is also a co-founder of FWD.us, primarily supported and funded by Silicon Valley, and led by principal Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
