Roshan Basheer Biography

Roshan Basheer is a budding actor associated with Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. Started off his career in a lead role, he later moved to supporting roles, and has essayed different types of roles including character roles and negative shaded ones. Started off his career in Malayalam movies, he is currently concentrating in Tamil movies. He is best known for playing the significant role of Varun Prabhakar with negative shades in all the south Indian versions of Drishyam – Drishyam in Malayalam, Drushyam in Telugu and Papanasam in Tamil. All these versions were huge hits at box office. Charan in Bairavaa and Murugan in Kubera Rashi are his other Tamil roles.

 

Roshan Basheer hails from a Muslim family in Kozhikode, Kerala. He was born in the year 1990. His father Kalanthan Basheer has appeared in a few Malayalam films in brief roles. His schooling was done at Memunda and graduation in Computer Science at School of Technology and Applied Sciences, Edappally. Roshan started off his film journey in the year 2010 with the movie, Plus-two. He was casted in a lead role for the film opposite Shafna. He played the role of a teenager Plus-two student in this film directed by debutant director Shebi Chavakkad. The movie was opened to positive reviews from critics.

 

Later he was seen in supporting roles in Innanu Aa Kalyanam, Banking Hours, Red Wine, Tourist Home etc. He worked with Mohanlal for the first time in Red Wine, followed by Drishyam, whose success gave him a major breakthrough. He started receiving offers from other south Indian language films, and earned a name of his own in all these languages. He also bagged lead roles in small-budget Tamil films including Kubera Rashi and Moondru Rasigarga, and both went unnoticed.
