Ronjan Sodhi Biography

Ronjan Sodhi is an Indian sportsman who practices the game of trap shooting. After winning gold medal at the 2010 Asian Games and two silver medals in the Commonwealth Games 2010, he was shot into limelight. This Arjuna Award winner ranks number one in the International Shooting Sport Federation rankings.

 

Ronjan was born on 23rd October 1979 in Ferozapur in Punjab. He belongs to a royal family and his father’s name is Malwinder Singh Sodhi. He married his long time sweetheart Ruchika and has one son named Suryaveer.

 

He took part in the 2010 Lonato ISSF World Cup and set a new world record and grabbed the gold medal in the double trap event. He won platinum medal in the men’s double trap singles event in the 2010 Commonwealth Games held on 6th October 2010. He won the silver medal in the men’s double trap pairs in the same event.

 

He won the gold medal in the men’s double trap event at the Asian Games 2010. He won the silver medal in the 2011 ISSF World Cup at Beijing in China. He became the only Indian to get to the top in the ISSF World Rankings. He got an entry to 2012 London Olympics after he won the silver medal at 2011 ISSF World Cup. He was greatly expected to grab a medal at the Olympics but he could not fulfill the expectations.
