Ronit Roy Biography

Ronit Roy is an actor who works for films as well as serials. He works most for Hindi movies and is a very successful television actor. He is best known for his portrayal of Rishabh Bajaj, Mihir Virani and Aparajit Deb and negative character of the movie – Udaan, which accumulated numerous awards at Filmfare and other award functions in the year 2010. He won Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for this movie, and till now it’s the most memorable performance of Ronit Roy.

Ronit Roy was born on 11 October 1965 in Nagpur as the eldest son of businessman Brothindranath and Dolly Bose Roy. His younger brother Rohit Roy is also a very successful television anchor and actor of small screen. Ronit spent his childhood in Ahmedabad. His dream was to pursue hotel management. He reached Mumbai and happened to stay at Subhash Ghai’s home. Yet he worked as a management trainee at Mumbai’s Sea Rock Hotel washing dishes and cleaning tables. When he lost his father unexpectedly Roy left his job at Sea Rock Hotel, and joined Mukta Arts, the production house of Subhash Ghai. He did freelance editing, along with modelling and advertisement work.

Very soon Ronit debut silver screen in leading role with the movie – Jaan tere naam. He was casted opposite Farheen and the movie was a super hit. However he couldn’t find success in new opportunities in Bollywood. Then he happened to work in television that gave him success and slowly he shifted from movies and dwelled at television serials. He occasionally works for movies in supporting roles as well. In 2010, Udaan brought him back to screen which accumulated lots of critics’ appreciations. He soon appeared in movies like - That Girl in Yellow Boots, Ugly, The student of the year and Shootout at Wadala.  

His successful television serials are Kavyanjali, Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Ssshhhh...Koi Hai and Kasamh Se.
