Rohit Sharma (music Composer) Biography

Rohit Sharma is a well-known music composer associated with Bollywood. He is associated with the film industry since the beginning of this decade. Ship of Theseus and Buddha in a Traffic Jam are his best known works till now as a lyricist and composer respectively. He penned the lyrics of 'Naham Janami' of Ship of Theseus which was well appreciated. Anaarkali of Aarah (2017) is his most recent work. The movie which told about the story of an erotic folk dancer gave him opportunity to experiment with folk music and folk songs from Bihar, which was widely appreciated. Rohit Sharma is also part of a musical band called Swaang.

Rohit Sharma hails from Delhi. Nobody in his family was inclined towards music. Yet Sharma started listening music since childhood days. His father worked in Reserve Bank of India and mother is a housewife. He started learning music only after completing his plus-two studies. By that time he got serious with music and started dreaming to become a music composer.

He completed Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering in the year 1996. He took formal lessons in classical flute from Pt. Harshwardhan. He also took Western Classical Piano lessons from the Delhi School of Music. After his engineering studies, he worked in professional field for a while before he quit his job to pursue music in the year 2000. During his early days he composed jingles and also music for several TV shows and serials.

He penned the song 'Naham Janami' for the movie - Ship of Theseus in 2009 and scored music for Buddha in a Traffic Jam in 2011. However both the movies had a delayed release in 2013 and 2016 respectively. Anaarkali of Aarah is his most recent work as a music composer. The soulful melodies were widely appreciated.
