Rohit Bhaker Biography 
Rohit Bhaker is an Indian deaf badminton player who hails from Bhiwani district in the state of Haryana. In 1997 for his achievement in his debut Deaflympic event (1997), he was awarded the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement. He created a new record in the event as the youngest male medalist at the Deaflympic history. National Child Award instituted in 1997 is awarded by the Department of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India to children between ages 4 to 15 with exceptional abilities. He is an Arjuna awardee too. He works in DHBVN at present.
Bhaker was born on 26 October 1984 in Bhiwani of Haryana. As a kid he used to accompany elder sister Deepti to the nearby courts where she used to play. Gradually young Rohit got attracted to the game. Rohit made his Deaflympic debut in the 1997 Summer Deaflympics at the age of 12. He was also a member of the Indian badminton team which won the gold medal in the mixed team event. He is often compared to the badminton player Rajeev Bagga, with whom he was featured in the tournament and particular match. This feat earned him the record of youngest male medalist at the Deaflympic history. He also became the youngest gold medalist in the history of Deaflympics after his outstanding performance. Same year he was awarded National Child Award, given away by government of Kerala.
In 2005 Summer Deaflympics, Bhaker bagged bronze medals in the men's singles and mixed team events. He cannot speak or hear but has managed to create a niche for himself. He travels about 100 km every day to come to the Northern Railway Indoor Badminton Stadium in Connaught Place, and remains punctual. Vikram Singh is his coach. Rohit has the distinction of winning the Haryana State open singles titles four times in a row.
