Rohan Bopanna Biography 
Rohan Bopanna is an Indian sportsman who plays the game of tennis. His highest world ranking in singles event is 213 s of 23rd July 2007 and in doubles event is 8 as of 5th March 2012. He plays many professional national and international matches and is a member of the Indian Davis Cup team from 2002.
Bopanna was born on 4th March 1980 in Bangalore in Karnataka. His father’s name is M.G. Bopanna and his mother’s name is Mallika Bopanna. His father is a coffee planter. He has one elder sister. He started o play tennis from his age of 11 and his parents are very supportive to his career.
After the 2007 Hopman Cup, he was considered to be one of the finest doubles players. He won the men’s doubles title at the 2008 Countrywide Classic held at Los Angeles with Eric Butorac as his partner. He qualified for the Chennai Open 2009 but lost in the first round. He partnered with Jarkko Nieminen and went up to the finals of the SAP Open held in San Jose in 2009.
He partnered with Mahesh Bhupathi and reached the quarterfinal of the Chennai Open in 2010. He won his second ATP doubles title in February 2010. During the 2010 US Open he reached the finals of the Grand Slam tournament for the first time. He was instrumental in India winning the Davis Cup against Brazil in 2010.
He won the Gerry Weber Open doubles title with Qureshi in 2011 and partnered with Mahesh Bhupathi in the 2012 London Olympics in the Men’s Doubles category. He was nominated in 2010 as the Champion for Peace by the Peace and Sport organization based at Monaco. He received Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year award in 2010 with Qureshi and the Government of Karnataka gave him the Ekalavya Award in 2005.
He is into many philanthropic activities and donates a part of his earnings to the GoSports Foundation the works to empower sporting excellence in India. He also funds a school for the physically handicapped children in his hometown Coorg. He also contributes to the Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences that aims to provide low cost dental treatments to the poor people.
