Ritesh Shah Biography

Ritesh Shah is a screenwriter and dialogue writer associated with Bollywood. He is one of the leading dialogue writers of Bollywood cinema at present, who has been a part of many hit films in the recent times. As a dialogue writer he is best known for the social drama, Pink (2016) which won him Filmfare award, Star Screen Award and Zee Cine Award in the Best Dialogue category. He has co-written the scripts and dialogues of Bollywood movies such as Kahaani (2012), D-Day (2013), Airlift (2017) and Raid (2018), and is known for punch and witty dialogues.

 

Ritesh Shah hails from Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir. He was born in the year 1976, and raised in Kashmir. He completed his graduation in English Literature from Hindu College in 1996. He later did his Masters in Mass Communications from MCRC, Jamia Milia Islamia. Initially he worked as a playwright for theatre dramas before moving to film industry. He worked with Act One Art Group, New Delhi as a playwright and some of his works include award winning Othello in the 1990s. He also wrote a few scripts for television shows like Kagaar, Josh, Kashmeer, Krishna Arjun etc.

 

In film industry he started off as a dialogue writer in 2005. Home Delivery was his first flick, followed by the super hit film, Namastey London. Force, Kahani, Action Replayy, Aladin etc are some of his early works as a dialogue writer. As a screenwriter, Force was his first film. It was an official remake of Tamil police drama, Kakka Kakka. D-Day, Commando: A One Man Army, B.A. Pass, Rocky Handsome, Chef, Raid etc are other movies, which he wrote screenplay and dialogues.
