Rimi Sen Biography

Rimi Sen is an actress of Indian screen who works most for Bollywood movies. She has been featured in a few music videos as well. Chamak cham cham of Yesudas and Mayiree yaad woh aayi of Palash Sen are her most popular albums through which Rimi Sen got noticed. Among all her movies, Dhoom is the biggest hit. She did a special appearance in the sequel of Dhoom. She played the role of Abhishek Bachchan’s wife in both these movies. Her other successful movies include Deewana pagal deewana, Hungama, Phir hera pheri, Golmaal, Johny Gaddar and Garam Masala.

 

She has done a string of movies for director Priyadarshan – Kyon ki, Hungama and Garam Masala. Her other works include - Sankat City, Bagban, Horn Ok please, Hattrick, De tali, Shagird and Thank you. She has also done a few Telugu movies - Neethodu Kavali and Andarivaadu. She has done one Bengali movie in the year 2004 - Swapner Din.

 

Rima Sen was born as Shubhomitra Sen in Kolkata in the year 1981. She completed her schooling from Bidya Bharati Girls' High School in the year 1998 and took graduation in Commerce later. She is atrained Odissi dancer and Guru Aloka Kanungo was her teacher. As a child itself, Rima dreamt of becoming an actress.  After completing studies, she wanted to go to Mumbai. Except grandmother, no one supported her.  She joined commercials and in one ad, she got opportunity to work with Aamir Khan. That particular ad was of Coco Cola, during late 90’s. Very soon, she got opportunities to work in a few music albums and she was noticed.

 

Rimi made her debut as a lead actress in Telugu movie Nee Thodu Kavali. Her debut Hindi movie was Priyadarshan’s Hungama in 2003. She was casted opposite Akhshay Khanna and Aftab Shivdasani in the movie. This movie was a remake of Priyadarshan’s own hit movie of 1980’s – Poochakkoru Mookkuthi and she did the role played by Menaka in the movie. But it’s for the movie Dhoom, her name is remembered most. Though female actresses of the movie, Esha Deol and Rima didn’t get significant roles in the male oriented movie, her sizzling chemistry and song pictured with Abhishek Bachchan were noted most. Later she took a small break from the industry with her marriage and has returned back with new screen name - Rimmi.
