Richa Gangopadhyay Biography 
Richa Gangopadhyay is an Indian film actress and model who has appeared in many commercials. She entered film industry in the year 2009 and could achieve great success in a short period of time.
She was born on 20th March 1986 in New Delhi in India. Her original name is Antara Richa Gangopadhyay. Her father’s name is Utpal Gangopadhyay and her mother’s name is Paula Gangopadhyay. She belongs to a Bengali Hindu Kulin Brahmin family. Her father is a COO of Netshape Technologies and her mother is a Director of Education at The Henry Ford Museum in Detroit.
Her parents settled down in US when she was just one year old and she spent her childhood days at Pennsylvania and Michigan. She attended Okemos High School. Then she completed her higher studies in Dietetics and Health Administration at Michigan State University. At that time, she stated a youth tutoring program in Lansing and so she was featured in the media for that.
She was interested in beauty pageants and started participating in them. She was one among the top ten in the Miss India USA competitions and was selected as the Miss Congeniality. She won Miss Michigan title in 2007 and was crowned as Miss India USA in 2007 at the contest held at New Jersey. She also got the title of Miss Photogenic in that competition. She represented USA in the Miss India Worldwide pageant held at Johannesburg.
In 2008 she came to Mumbai to try her luck in film industry. She joined the Anupam Kher’s acting school and got her diploma in acting. She started appearing in some television commercials at this time and worked as a model for Malabar Gold, Kalaniketan, Peter England and Vatika Almond Hair Oil.
The Telugu film Leader directed by Sekhar Kammula in which she played the role of the daughter of a politician gave her name and fame. She paired with the newcomer Rana Daggubati in that film. As her very first venture was successful, she was booked by P. Vasu to perform in the film Nagavalli. She got many chances to act in the films of Tamil, Telugu and Bengali languages and slowly established herself as a talented actress.
Some of the films that she has acted include Mayakkam Enna and Osthe in Tamil, Bikram Singha: The Lion Is Back in Bengali and Leader, Nagavalli, Mirapakaay, Sarocharu, etc. in Telugu.
