Ravindra Jadeja Biography

 

Ravindra Jadeja is an Indian cricketer who is a left handed middle order batsman and slow left arm bowler. He was a part of the U 19 cricket team that lifted the World Cup 2008 in Malaysia. He plays for Saurashtra team in first class cricket and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

 

Ravindra Jadeja was born on 6th December 1988 in Jamnagar in Gujarat in a lower middle class family. His full name is Ravindra Anirudhsinh Jadeja. His father’s name is Anirudhsinh and his mother’s name is Lataben. His father is working as a security guard and his mother worked as a nurse. It was his mother’s dream to see him play for India but he lost her in 2005. He has one elder sister named Naina and a younger sister Padmini.

 

He started playing cricket in the age of ten and entered the first class cricket by playing in the Duleep Trophy in 2007-07 season. He was also a part of the Indian U 19 team that lost in the finals to Pakistan in 2006. He was initially selected for the Rajasthan Royals team in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League in 2008. He had crucial role in defeating the Chennai Super Kings in the finals held on 1st June 2008 in Mumbai.

 

He was banned for contractual irregularities during the 2010 IPL series and then in 2011 he was selected for Kochi Tuskers Kerala team and in the 2012 IPL auction, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings and was the most expensive player of the year’s auction.

 

His all round talents during the Ranji Trophy 2008-09 in which he had taken 42 wickets with 739 runs caught the attention of the national selectors and was picked for the ODI series in Sri Lanka. In his debut match he scored 60 runs. His ODI debut was on 8th February 2009 and his T20 debut was on 10th February 2009 against Sri Lanka.

 

He plays for West Zone in the Duleep Trophy and for Saurashtra team in the Ranji Trophy. In the Ranji Trophy match against Orissa in November 2011, he scored 314 runs off 375 balls with 29 fours and 9 sixes. Again he scored 303 not out in November 2012 in the Ranji Trophy match against Gujarat and scored 331 runs off 501 balls against Railways team in the Ranji Trophy Group league on 2nd December 2012 with 29 fours and 7 sixes becoming the first Indian to score three first class triple centuries.
