Ravi K. Chandran Biography 
Ravi K. Chandran is an acclaimed and very successful cinematographer from Indian film industry. He owns many hit Bollywood, Malayalam and Tamil films to his credit. Worked with some of the leading film directors of Bollywood and A-graded actors, some of his best Bollywood works are Virasat, Dil Chahta Hai, Yuva, Paheli, Koi... Mil Gaya, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Firaaq, Ghajini, Black, Fanaa and Saawariya, and most of them are award winning ones for different categories. He won Filmfare Award for Best Cinematographer for his works of Priyadarshan’s Virasat and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black. Among south Indian movies, he won Filmfare award for Kannathil Muthamittal directed by Mani Ratnam.
Ravi K. Chandran was born in the village Maduranthakam of Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu. He is the youngest child to his parents. Noted south Indian cinematographer K. Ramachandra Babu is his elder brother. He graduated from A. M. Jain College in 1982, and then joined film industry. He also worked as Director of Photography of many music videos and ad films during the early phase of his career. He also worked as assistant to his elder brother K. Ramachandra Babu in film industry in those days.
As an independent cinematographer, he started off with 1992 Malayalam film, Kilukkampetti directed by Shaji Kailas. After that he closely worked with the same director in a string of Malayalam hits of 1990s. He also worked with other film directors of Malayalam film industry. Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu (1999) is his acclaimed work in Malayalam. After that he turned busy in Tamil and Bollywood film industry. Some of his noted works in Tamil include - Kannathil Muthamittal, Kandukondain Kandukondain, Minsaara Kanavu, Boys etc. Currently he is working on Bollywood project, Student of the Year 2. He has also directed one film in Tamil – Yaan in 2014 which failed miserably at box office.
