Ranjit Barot Biography 
Ranjit Barot is an Indian music director and singer who has been associated with A. R. Rahman in several projects as an assistant. He is a successful background scorer also and has done Bollywood movies since early 2000. Tera Jadoo Chal Gayaa and Fiza, both released in 2000 are his earliest projects as a background scorer. He also worked as sound engineer for 2000 release, Tera jaadu chal gaya. As a music director, Bollywood movies are Sankat City, Oh Darling Yeh Hai India, Raakh, Chupke se, Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Qayamat: City Under Threat and Chhodon Naa Yaar. He has also worked as a playback singer for movies like Mein hoon na, Sankat city, Shaitan, Aryan, Holiday, Rub a ru, Babul and Pyare Mohan.
As a successful background scorer, he has won Filmfare awards twice for the movies – Aks (2001) and Shaitan (2011). He has done numerous memorable Bollywood movies like Mien hoon na, Dus, Aks, Rishtey, Hathyar, Cash, Mere Baap Pehle Aap, Sankat city, Black and White, Toss, Aryan, Tashan, Shaitan, Tera jaadu chal gaya and Fiza. Ranjit belonged to a family of music and dance. His mother is the renowned Kathak dancer, Sitara Devi. Ranjit’s association with western drum kit started since 12 and he became one of the leading artists when he was only 17. During early 1980’s, he performed in many international concerts and got opportunity to share space with leading names like Miles Davis, Al Foster, Billy Higgins, Dizzy Gillespie, Cecil Taylor and Louie Bellson.
Ranjit has a long term relationship with music production and composition and has also worked as a studio faculty in Mumbai. His career started with early 1980’s where he worked as a drummer and music arranger for leading music directors of the industry. He has been an integral part of some of A.R. Rahman’s greatest work throughout his career.
