Ramesh Jarkiholi Biography

Ramesh Jarkiholi is a Congress politician from the state of Karnataka. He is serving as Minister of Municipal Administration in the Government of Karnataka since 6 June 2018. He represents Gokak Assembly Constituency of Belgaum. He has been elected to Karnataka Legislative Assembly 4 times, and his brother Satish Jarkiholi is also a noted politician and legislator belonging to Karnataka state Legislative Assembly. In 2016 Ramesh was inducted to Siddaramaiah led government as a cabinet minister and given Small Scale Industries Ministry portfolio.

Ramesh Jarkiholi hails from Gokak, Belgaum, Karnataka. His brother Satish Jarkiholi is a politician and a Member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly representing the Yamkanmardi constituency. He has served as a cabinet minister of both H. D. Kumarswamy and Siddaramaiah. The siblings represent Indian National Congress, and both have succeeded as successful politicians of Karnataka. Ramesh Jarkiholi represents Gokak Assembly Constituency of Belgaum, and this constituency has been ruled by the Jarkiholi family for over 15 years. Balachandra Jarkoholi is yet another member from the family who is into political field.

Ramesh Jarkiholi became a state legislator for the first time in 1999. He registered a major victory by winning the seat by over 55,000 votes. He beat Naik Chandrashekhar Sadashiva of the Janata Dal (United). He won the state assembly elections for the second time in 2004 by over 15,000 votes. BJP Candidate Muttennavar Mallappa Laxman finished second. He succeeded 2008 Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections and 2016 elections too, thus winning 4 terms in a row. He completed 5 years in all these terms too. He got inducted to the government for the first time in 2016.
