Ramdas M Pai Biography 
Ramdas M Pai is an Indian doctor and businessman. He served as the Chairman of Manipal Education and Medical Group. He played significant role in the growth of this group. He was born on 17th September 1935 and is living in Bangalore in India.
He studied at Kasturba Medical College at Manipal and at Temple University at Philadelphia in USA. He is serving as the Pro Chancellor of the Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences at Gangtok in Sikkim. He is serving as the President of TA Pai management Instititute at Manipal and as the Registrar of the Academy of General Education at Manipal.
He contributed a lot to the medical and educational associations throughout the country and served as the member of the Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India. He also served in the NAAC and as the Syndicate of Mangalore University.
He was appointed to advice the Ministry on Higher Education by Union Minister of Human Resource Development. He advocated Public-Private partnership in higher education. He strived to improve and upgrade the standards.
His efforts led to the Manipal University get the status of deemed university with regard to the medical, dental and nursing colleges in 1993. Manipal Academy of Higher Education gave direct employment to 13,000 people and indirect employment to 25,000 people. His philanthropy efforts through Manipal Education are channeled through Manipal Foundation.
His son Dr. TMA Pai founded educational town of Manipal. This was developed by Ramdas M Pai. He was recognized both at the national level and international level for his works. He got Padma Bhushan award for his outstanding contribution in education and healthcare field. He got honorary doctorate degree from various universities.
He received Deccan Herald Avenues HR Excellence Lifetime Achievement Award in February 2005 and Kanara Ratna Award by Kanara College Society at Kumta in February 2008.
