Ramana Gogula Biography

Ramana Gogula is a musician, singer and lyricist associated with Telugu music. Gogula is a software engineer by profession, and has worked for Sybase. He also composed music for Tamil film – Badri and Kannada movie, Yuvaraja. As a singer his voice best suits for Pawan Kalyan and well identified with his image. Gogula started off his music career at the age of 17 when he formed a rock band in Visakhapatnam with a few friends. Started his film career as a music composer in 1998, he composed music for Premante Idera, Thammudu, Badri (Telugu and Tamil), Viyyalavari Kayyalu, Yogi, Ko Ko, Annavaram, Lakshmi (2006), Chinnodu, Dham etc.

 

Ramana Gogula was born into a family with musical background. His mother is a trained classical singer. But Ramana got attracted to western music. He loved Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull and never has been into Indian music. But gradually he liked Indian music. At the age of 17, he made his first rock band and while doing engineering at IIT Kharagpur. It was during those days he started with fusion and creative music. When he went abroad he formed a reggae band. He performed in pubs and bars for next four years with this band. By that time he got related with world music and played the music of Africans, Jamaicans, American Blues Musicians and Rock n Roll Funk Guitarists. Yet he was confused what to do next.

 

He released his first album - Aye Laila in 1996. After hearing the music of Aye Laila Jayant, director of Premante Idera approached him. That’s how he got his first break to movies through Premante Idera. It was followed by his second film - 'Preminchukundam Raa’, and he started receiving offers after that. Now he has completed almost two years in Indian music industry.
