Rakul Preet Singh Biography

Rakul Preet Singh is a young actress of south Indian cinema. She debuted big screen in lead role in 2009 Diwali release, Gilli – a Kannada drama. She debut Telugu with Keratam in 2011 and Tamil with Thadaiyara Thaakka in 2012. She is to debut Bollywood with upcoming flick, Yaariyaan where she is paired opposite Himansh Kohli, Serah Singh. The movie is slated to be released in January 2014. Telugu Comedy film, Venkatadri Express, big release of 2013 with Sundeep Kishan and Rakul Preet Singh as main lead was a huge hit. Her single Tamil release of 2013, Puthagam where she was paired opposite Sathya was also received well by critics and audience. Her upcoming south Indian projects are Autonagar Surya, Rough and Yennamo Yedho. Now she is one among the successful youngsters of south Indian cinema.

Singh was born in Delhi on 10 October 1990. She did her schooling from Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan. During her school days, she was interested in sports and participated in golf and has played games in national level. She pursued graduation in Mathematics from Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi. During this time, she got engaged with modelling and got many assignments. She contested in Miss India contest in 2011 where she won the titles of - Pantaloons Femina Miss Fresh Face, Femina Miss Talented, Femina Miss Beautiful Smile and Femina Miss Beautiful Eyes. She also won Miss India Poll title.

In 2009, she debut big screen with Kannada movie, Gilli. Gilli was the remake of Tamil hit, 7G Rainbow Colony. She joined film industry to earn just pocket money. But when she discovered that South Indian film industry is really big, she decided to stay here and became successful as an actress too.
