Rajesh Biography

Rajesh is a character artist who works in Tamil and Malayalam cinema. He started his career as lead hero and later moved to supporting roles. He has completed silver jubilee in the acting field and has done more than 150 films in various roles. Apart from a character artist and supporting actor, he has also played lead actor’s role. Kanni Paruvathile (1979) was his debut movie and later he moved to character roles. Apart from movies, he is now a businessman got engaged in real estate, hotels and infra-structure business.

Rajesh was born in 1949 in Mannargudi of Tiruvarur. His family originally hails from Thanjavur. Since childhood he dreamt to become an hotelier and film director. After he completed graduation from Pachaiappas College, he worked as a teacher in Sacred Paul's High School, Purasawalkam and later worked in Kellett Higher Secondary School, Triplicane for 7 years till he made his film debut. Though he got a chance to act in 1974 movie - Aval Oru Thodar Kathai, it didn’t happen and he made his film debut through Rajkannu’s production venture Kanni Paruvathile in 1979. He was the lead hero of the movie, and he worked aside K. Bhagyaraj and Vadivukkarasi. The film was a blockbuster and completed 200 days. He played the role of an impotent husband in this movie and his wife’s role was played by Vadivukkarasi.

He also played lead role in Achamillai Achamillai opposite Saritha, the movie directed by K. Balachander. Later he moved to character roles and Payanangal Mudivathillai, Billa and Antha Ezhu Naatkal are among his noted roles in supporting roles of early 1980’s. He has played second lead and supporting actor roles in many Kamal Hassan movies.
