Rajendran Mani Biography

Rajendran Mani is of the most experienced bodybuilders from Chennai, India. He worked with Indian Air Force for long 15 years before he took bodybuilding as his profession. He won both the Mr. India and Champion of Champion titles a record total of 9 times. He won the Fifth World Bodybuilding Championship for the 90 kg category held in Budapest, Hungary in 2013. He is currently Mr. India Champion of Champion (2016). He has won this title three times before. He won Mr. Asia title two times and Mr. World title in 2013. 2015 has been a good year for Indian bodybuilders. Many Indian stars claim many international titles at several international events, and Rajendran Mani is currently in the spotlight.

 

Former Indian Air Force soldier created history at Budaors, Hungary. He won the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship in the men’s 90 kg event in 2013. He was 42 years old when he claimed the title. He trained for the event under great financial stress, and was able to attend the competition only because of a well-wisher who sponsored him for the sport event. He sponsored his flying ticket at the last moment. He won the world title when he was at his career peak. But one of the most expensive sports, as it needs huge amounts of money for food, Mani faced financial troubles. He even shut down his gym at Delhi which he ran aside his friend and was planning to return to his hometown when his success at Hungary brought everything back.

 

He took bodybuilding as a teenager at Chennai. He was coached by his father. He joined Indian Air Force in 1996. He won his first bodybuilding championship in IAF in 2002. Since then he remained the undisputed inter-services champion in the 90 kg class for six years (2004-2010). He won his first national championship in 2005 and Mr. Asia title in 2009. He took voluntary retirement from the Air Force in 2010 when he was denied of a promotion, despite winning an international event. Later he started a gym aside his friend, which ran in loss. Eventually he shut down the business and returned back to Chennai.
