Rahul Roy Biography

Rahul Roy is a Bollywood actor who was popular with his first movie ‘Aashique’ in 1990. This musical blockbuster placed him in the top slot, but he couldn’t make it big. His other hit movies include Sapne sajan ki, Phir tere kahani yaad aayi, Jaanam and Junoon. Junoon too was a block buster success that made him an overnight star at a short period in a comparatively younger age. But most of his films got shelved thus blocking his path to become successful in Bollywood. He was a craze at campus during early 90’s with his looks, personality and hair style. He is the winner of first season of Big Boss, reality show.

Rahul Roy’s first movie was Aashique along with another debut Anu Agarwal. This movie was a path breaker and gave stardom to the leading actors as well as the music team of Nadeem Shravan, Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal. After the super success of Aashique, he signed 40 films continuously. But he was a bit unfortunate as majority of those big projects got shelved for one reason or other. He was signed with many leading heroines of that time for many movies. Some of them include Karishman Kapoor, Nagma, Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shirodkar. Some of those shelved big projects include Kal yug, Vajra, Dil diya chori chori and Jab jab dil mile. Many of those projects were started, yet couldn’t reach a finish due to director/producer death or financial crisis. Released movies also began to flop one after the other. Thus a promising hero with good looks and a spontaneous entry  began to accept character roles later.

For a short period he disappeared from screens too, later made a re-entry through Big Boss and movies like Meri Aashique, Naughty boy and Bipasha – The black beauty. But none of those roles were quite memorable. His name is always among those actors of Bollywood who made a great entry to Bollywood, yet couldn’t sustain it.  Throughout his career he has done some negative roles as well. Roles of Gumraah (guest appearance) and Dharma Karma can be counted among those negative shades. His other movies include Barish, Pyar ka saaya and Ghazab Tamasa.
