Ragini Trivedi Biography 
Ragini Trivedi, born as Ragini Misra is a renowned musician and composer who also performed in the string instrument, Vichitra Veena. She also performs sitar and jal tarang and is currently the sole exponent of Misrabani. She is one among the foremost disciples of her elder brother, Gopal Shankar Misra, a renowned musician of Vichitra Veena. He promoted her in music forms in whatever way he could. He had a short life of 42 years, and she lost her parents very young. She is the daughter of Lalmani Misra, a renowned musician who revived the musical instrument Vichitra Veena by creating his own playing techniques.
Ragini Trivedi was born in 1960 in Kanpur into a family of renowned musicians. Her father Lalmani Misra was a well-known musician and researcher who lived during the period, 1924 – 1979. When Lalmani passed away leaving behind many unfinished works, his 22-year old son Gopal Shankar Misra decided to continue with his work and music contributions. He also taught his younger sister, Ragini.
The siblings witnessed some personal tragedies when they lost both their parents in the late 1970s, within a time gap of two years. Gopal Shankar also died in his early 40s, leaving behind his both kids under the guidance of Ragini who turned their music teacher. The family eventually attained Gharana status when Gopal’s son belonging to the third generation also entered the world of Vichitra Veena, following the legacy. Gopal’s kids have also chosen the same field of music, promoting family tradition.
After her parents’ death, Ragini continued her pursuit of music, carrying forward the family traditions. She got a gold medal in Master’s in Music from Banaras Hindu University in 1980. She also took doctorate in Music and pursued a career in music. As exponent of Misrabani, Ragini developed a new style of Gatkari and composed a few compositions. She has also published many research works on music.
