Radha Bartake Biography

Radha Bartake is a former Indian model and actress who was active in the era of 1970s. She is the winner of three beauty pageants which includes one international beauty contest title. She holds the beauty titles - Miss Goa 1973/1974, Femina Miss India 1974 (Femina Teen Princess India) and International Teen Princess 1974. She is the first Indian model to win International Teen Princess, and she won the title in the year 1974. Four years later Indian teenager Elizabeth Anita Reddi won Miss Teenager Intercontinental title, a beauty pageant similar to International Teen Princess, where teen models were awarded. Radha worked in several films and TV ads after she returned back to India.

 

Radha Bartake was born in the year 1959 in Military Hospital, Panaji. She hails from Margao, Goa. She is also known by the names – Radhika, Radha and Kasturi. Radha got interested in modelling since young and started a career in this field during her early teens, when fashion industry was not a promising career choice then. At the age of 14, she won Miss Goa in 1973-74. It was her first title in a beauty contest, marking her successful beginning in this career.

 

Soon after winning Miss Goa contest in 1973-74, she got direct entry to participate in Femina Miss India Contest 1974. She finished as the first runner up of the contest and crowned Femina Teen Princess India, which enabled her to represent India at International Teen Princes contest held in Venezuela. She won the international beauty pageant, thus becoming the first Indian to win International Teen Princess, the event held at Caracas, Venezuela. She made Bollywood debut in the film Sajan Bina Suhagan, and also worked in a few Marathi movies, but remained unsuccessful.
