Rachana Maurya Biography

Rachana Maurya is a film actress and dancer who has appeared in numerous film songs as an item girl. She has also appeared in a few music videos. Thodi Mila De Tu of Rishi Singh, Tere Naal Nachna–Sukhbir, Nishani and Phullan Wangu - Jassi Sohal, Main Hogaya Sharabbi - Panjabi MC and Maya the Illusion - Rahul Sharma are a few among those. Her first big break was the Bollywood movie, Dus released in 2005, where she appeared in a song sequence – Deedar de. Later she appeared in Bollywood movies like Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Iqraar By Chance, Fight club, Dhol, 13B (Yavarum Nalam – Tamil) etc. She has also danced for Malayalam movie songs of Chotta Mumbai, Pokkiri Raja etc. She has appeared in numerous film songs in other south Indian languages.

She is a Maharashtrian, born in Mumbai in 1987. She shot to fame with hot number Deedar De... from Dus. It was followed by remixed version of Aashiqbanayaapne, where she appeared aside Himesh Reshammiya. The video, Desi Soda Whisky made her Mumbai's hottest item girl. But later she revealed that it was a wardrobe malfunction and she continued shooting to avoid pack up for the day. Later she appeared in many south Indian movies like Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Uppi Dada, Chota Mumbai etc.

The television promo song O Sexy Mamma... with Madhavan for Yaavarum Nalam (13 B - Hindi version) was her major break to south Indian cinema. Though she is known for her raunchy numbers in many films, she doesn’t prefer to call herself as an item girl. She just wants herself to be known as a part of the movie. In her opinion, she is being paid a good sum to wear skimpy costumes and for the same reason, she is never apologetic.
