R. Suryaprakash Biography 
R. Suryaprakash is a well-known Carnatic vocalist, composer, and lyricist from south India. He holds a master's degree in Carnatic music from Madras University. He has performed extensively both in India and abroad in many countries like Australia, USA, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore etc, and has been honoured with many titles, awards and recognitions in India and abroad. He received G. Ramanathan Award by Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, Chennai in 2013, Best Vivadhi Raga Exposition by Madras Music Academy, Chennai in 2001, Yuva Kala Bharathi by Bharat Kalachar, Chennai in 1999, Best Vocalist title by Madras Music Academy, Chennai in 2004 and many more honours.
R. Suryaprakash was introduced to the world of music at the age of 7. He belongs to a musical family of Chennai, with many members being musical performers and artists. He was initially taught the lessons of Carnatic music by his uncle Tirukkodikaval Shri V. Rajamani, followed by M. A. Venugopalan. Both were direct disciples of Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer. He later got opportunity to learn music from experienced artist T. V. Sankaranarayanan. Later he performed with leading musicologists like Sulochana Pattabiraman and Dr. V. V. Srivatsa, which helped him to improve a lot.
R. Suryaprakash is regular in his Carnatic concerts. Apart from giving solo performances, he also collaborates with other artists. He has also performed in musical festivals in India and abroad and is a regular performer at international Carnatic music festivals of 'Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana' and the 'Festival of Asia' in Melbourne. Now he owns numerous disciples and he regularly conducts musical workshops to promote music. He is also a composer who tuned three Australian dance productions and several thillanas, ragamalikas and krithis.
