R. B. Gurudev Biography 
R. B. Gurudev is a cinematographer associated with Tamil movies. Gurudev made his debut with Yogi (2009). But the movie which got released first was TN 07 AL 4777. In a career spanning to about one decade, he has done many critically acclaimed works. Kalari and Mohini, both released in 2018 are his most recent works. Chikku Bukku, Aadhi Bhagavan, Vathikuchi, Megha, Irumbu Kuthirai, Kanchana 2, and 144 are his other released Tamil movies.
R. B. Gurudev hails from Chennai. He joined film industry in the late 2000s, and initially worked as an assistant cameraman under Jeeva for the movies, Urchagam (2007) and Rameswaram (2008). Then he signed his first full-fledged project, Yogi in 2009, followed by TN 07 AL 4777. But TN 07 AL 4777 got released first. Yogi released after that and his work was critically acclaimed. After that he got projects from Tamil cinema regularly, and worked with some of the leading directors of the present times.
His work Chikku Bukku (2010) was well appreciated by critics, who called it a visual treat. His works for Aadhi Bhagavan and Megha too were well praised by critics. His camera work in Kanchana 2 played an important role in film’s success too. But his work was later completed by another cinematographer, when the film’s shooting delay, and Gurudev was already committed to another movie.
His most recent work, Mohini received lukewarm response at box office. However the cinematographer feels that Mohini deserved better recognition. Though the movie flopped at box office, his camera work for this horror flick was well appreciated. Four cameras were used for shooting some of its scenes. It included some underwater sequences too. He received praises for the car chase scene.
