Qazi Touqeer Biography 
Qazi Touqeer is a singer from Kashmir, who shot to fame after winning the singing reality show - Fame Gurukul in 2005, aside Ruprekha Banerjee. Though he was not a trained singer and often received bad reviews from judges, through his hard work and determination he achieved success and emerged as the winner. One of the stylish performers of the show, he had a huge fan following crowd. The show was aired on Sony Entertainment Television and he was voted by public as the winner. Currently he focuses on Pop, pop rock and electronic forms of music. While rehearsing for his acting debut film, Take Off, he was seriously injured.
Qasi was born in Srinagar in 1988. Qazi's father was a lawyer, who later became a Sufi saint. His mother is a teacher. His uncle is a singer. Qasi was influenced by Khan Danish and he later got interested in music. Before the reality show, Fame Gurukul (soon after the success of the first season of Indian Idol 2004), Qasi didn’t take any formal training in music and the show helped him a lot to improve his singing talents. Qasi, through his style and charming looks attracted millions of fans who voted him continuously and he emerged as the winner of the show also. Qasi was interested in mimicking film heroes during his early days. For his career in music he got full support from his family.
Arijit Singh of Aashique 2 fame and Keerthi Sagathia were among his fellow contestants of the show, who later achieved success in Bollywood playback singing. Following the win of Fame Gurukul, he released the album – Yeh Pal. The album included the singles - "Yeh Pal", "Karu Kya", "Madham Si Chandani" etc. He was also featured in the song “Aasmaan ke paar” along with his fellow contestants of the show. The song was originally composed by Shankar-Ehsaan Loy for their album – Rockford.
