Pushpa Girimaji Biography 
Pushpa Girimaji is an author, and senior journalist, with 38 years experience of consumer rights columnist and consumer safety advocate. Pushpa Girimaji started her career in Journalism in the year 1976 with City Tab, which was a community newspaper published from Bangalore. Incidentally Pushpa is the only Indian journalist who has written a weekly consumer column non-stop for over three decades.
After leaving City Tab, she joined Deccan Herald in Bangalore and then to The Indian Express. In the year 1983, she started her consumer column that was published by different papers including The Times of India, Divya Bhaskar out of Gujarat, Dainik Bhaskar, Dainik Jagran, Amar Ujala, and Samyukta Karnataka and Vijaya from Karnataka.
At present, Pushpa is busy writing exclusive columns the Hindustan Times and the other for The Tribune. Pushpa is proud recipient of number of awards coffered on her for her professional work which include The Sanskriti Award, Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, M.R, Pai Award and the Chamelidevi Jain Award. In recognition of her work in the area of consumer safety, the Underwriters Laboratory, USA, has made her a member of its Consumer Advisory council.
Pushpa Girimaji was a member of the first advisory committee formed during 2000-03 by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority popularly known as and took keen interest in writing number of regulations especially the regulation protecting about the interest of the consumers. Pushpa Girimaji played a major role in the interest of Consumer Protection Act of 1986.
