Purna Chandra Hota Biography 
Purna Chandra Hota is a retired civil servant from Orissa. This bureaucrat served as Chairman, Union Public Service Commission (2002–2003). He has earlier served as Secretary of Union Public service Commission, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension and Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. Known for his outstanding contributions to Public Service, he has served as member of several delegation committees which served abroad. His wife Bijoylaxmi Hota is a Yoga expert and author of several books on Yogic therapy. His daughter Reela Hota is an Odissi dance performer, teacher and renovator of this art form combining other art pieces. His other daughter Reema Hota Singh is an Indian Revenue Service Officer. He has one more son too.
Purna Chandra Hota, also called P. C. Hota hails from Balasore, Odisha. His father Banchanidi Hota worked in excise department. Purna completed his education from Cuttack and University of Allahabad, and then taught political science at Utkal University. He cleared I.A.S Examination, ranking one among the top 10 candidates. He joined Odisha Cadre in 1962. As a civil servant he served as Commissioner & Secretary to government of Odisha in different departments. Hota was appointed by Government of India's Chairman of the Committee on Civil Services Reforms in 2004.
Hota was nominated by the Government of India to the court of the Banaras Hindu University in 2006. In 2010 he was appointed as Chairman of a Committee of Experts to give suitable suggestions on disciplinary & vigilance enquiries by the Government of India. Known for his outstanding contributions to Public Service, Ravenshaw University conferred him with an honorary doctorate. He has served as a Member or leader of a Delegation in several conferences conducted in foreign countries, mostly in the 1990s.
