Purab Kohli Biography

Purab Kohli is a Bollywood film actor, television actor, model and a popular video jockey. He started his career as an actor with the television show Hip Hip Hurray on Zee TV. But he shot to fame with his VJ assignments in Channel V. Gone India – is a successful travel show hosted by him for Indian television. As a film actor, he has done numerous supporting roles of which Rock On! released in 2008 is the most noted appearance. He received Filmfare Special Jury Award for this ‘rocking’ performance of the successful movie. Vastu Shastra Woh lamhe, Bas ek pal, Turning 30, Bas ek pal, My brother … Nikhil, Supari and Awarapan are other noted works.

Prab was born in 23 February 1979 in Maharashtra. Kohil's father does hotel business and mother is a corporate trainer. His schooling was done at Pune. After schooling, he joined a flying school to become a pilot. Somehow it didn’t happen and he moved towards television, modelling and entertainment industry. He has also made several changes of his career options as well as his subjects from science to commerce and a few more. He started his career with television show Hip Hip Hurray on Zee TV. But he earned recognition as VJ of Channel V during late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Apart from it, he has been a successful model and appeared in numerous television commercials during this period. His popular ads include – Colgate, Pizza Hut, Compaq Presario, Amaron Batteries, and Castrol. He has also anchored Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar for Zee TV in 2010 and Terra Quiz on National Geographic Channel.

Bus Yuhin released in 2003 marked his Bollywood debut, where he was paired opposite Nandita Das. Supari (2003), Vastu Shastra (2004), and 13th Floor (2005) were his early movies. It was through the movie My brother is Nikhil, he got appreciation for the first time as an actor.
