Punya Srinivas Biography 
Punya Srinivas is an Indian vocalist and musician from Tamil Nadu. She plays Veena instrument. She became an 'A' Grade Artiste of All India Radio when she was just 20 years old. Her husband, D. A. Srinivas is a talented mridangam player, and they regularly perform together in concerts. She has performed in all the major sabhas in Chennai, apart from music festivals across the country and a few foreign countries too. She has also collaborated with percussionists, Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin, Matthew Garrison and U. Srinivas for their live shows, and collaborated with the legendary musician Ravi Shankar for his album, CHANTS.
She was initiated into music from the age of 6. Jayalakshmi from the Music Academy was her first teacher. She later trained in Veena from Kamala Aswathama, the mother of noted Veena player E. Gayathri. She is still learning Carnatic music along with her regular performances. She has briefly learnt western music too. Punya Srinivas stormed into the Carnatic musical world at the age of 9 and has been a regular performer since then. She got married to noted mridangam player D. A. Srinivas, who accompanies her for music concerts.
As an artist apart from collaborating with renowned musicians for stage performances and albums, she has also released one album titled, "Veena in Vienna". Through this album she expressed the single musical instrument Veena in different dimensions, and the album was an instant hit. "Sound of Swan" was her second album. As a Veena player, this renowned artist has released more than 5000 recordings and is well known for her versatility. She has also worked with renowned composer Illayaraja in Tamil film recordings.
