Priyanka Sarkar Biography

Priyanka Sarkar is a successful actress associated with Bengali cinema and television. She is married to noted Bengali actor, Rahul Banerjee and they shared an amazing chemistry on screen. One of the most popular and adorable Bengali couples onscreen since late 2000s, they have appeared together in more than 17 films, Perhaps a unique record! And most of these films were made during the period – 2009-2011. The filmmakers and audience have always loved to see them together onscreen. The couple, who married in 2010, had a kid in 2013 - Shohoj Banerjee. Earlier they have worked together in television serials like "Aastha", "Nana Ranger Dinguli" and "Khela", where they also played siblings onscreen. In fact Rahul’s first movie was with Priyanka - Chirodini Tumi Je Amar in 2008, which ran successfully at theatres.

Priyanka Sarkar was born on 31 December 1990 in Kolkata. She started her career in television before her foray to movies. Aastha, Khela, Nana Ranger Dinguli and Ebar jalsha rannaghore are her television serials. Though she appeared in several movies, similar to Rahul, Chirodini Tumi Je Amar in 2008 was her first hit film. Since then she went on to pair with her leading co-star which audience loved a lot. They worked together for the movies - Chirodini Tumi Je Amar, Bhalobasha zindabaad, Kano kichu kotha bolo na, Love Circus, Shono mon boli tomay, Hangover (guest appearance), Game, Get2gether, Moubone Aaj, Pratidwandi, Bor Bou Khela, Kagojer Bou, Na hanyate, Hoi choi, A Political Murder, Obhisopto Nighty and Tadanto.  

The love blossomed between the two in the sets of “Khela”. Though Rahul proposed to Priyanka, he was almost sure she will reject it and it happened too! Both are extremely different character persons. But later she accepted, by calling him over phone at night. Though her parents too were against the proposal Rahul won everyone’s heart at last and got married in 2010. They worked together for several movies after marriage.
